A break from pink

I've taken a little break from pink to have another go at this distressing lark! Feel quite pleased with the results this time too.

I printed some Kraft card from a Pink Petticoat CD and then stamped some white leaves over the top with an Impression Obsession stamp. The image is of course Tilda, shaded with Copics and highlighted with Inkssentials and Glamour Dust.

I think I've finally sussed distressing - the trick is to not get distressed whilst doing it! The patterned paper is Basic Grey and I created the sentiment on the PC.

So sorry for my lack of blog hopping last night, I was so tired. My poor boys were so unsettled with their colds that I had to put in an emergency phone call to Grandma to come round and help me out as they both needed cuddling all afternoon and soothing. Both their temperatures have gone down now and Zac has gone to his Grandparents for the day too.

DT creation and Candy news

I've made this hot chocolate sachet gift holder, I got the instructions here. It's really quite simple to make out of one piece of card (I printed both sides).

My doodling might be a bit difficult to spot at first - all the white scalloped squares on this project started off as plain white card, I have stamped the sentiments and the rest is doodling to match the fabulous patterned papers from Pink Petticoat. I braved it by trying my hand at coloured doodling for the first time.

I used this gorgeous stamp from Sugar Nellie, shaded with Copics and highlighted with Glamour Dust, she's sat on the window inside the box too, guarding the hot chocolate!
For my doodling I used a letraset black liner pen and Galaxy markers. I tried to imitate the fairy lights paper and some faux stitching too. The sentiment on the front of the box is from a Martha Stewart set and the inside one is CC Designs. Hot chocolate is Cadbury's!!! Just noticed the photos don't really show the box very well, looks a bit flat but it is a box I promise! Finally I have to thank Jo and Gracie for this lovely award.

Snow Much Fun

I lurve this sketch, my giant snowflake is from the Pink Petticoat Fairy Doodles collection. I printed it larger than life and then cut around it before adding a centre circle and another cute Emma image from the CC Designs winter kit. She's shaded with ProMarkers and Galaxy markers. The snowflake is a Nellie's border - sooo good to have my replacement bug to do all these fabby shapes again. Used tons of Glamour Dust and some sparkle gems. Oh and the little glitter flower / snowflakes I think are Making Memories out of an alphabet sticker set.

My favourite recipe at the moment has to be butternut squash soup, it's one of my faves that I make to help me with the whole fat club thing! So here's the recipe:

Saute some onion and add a chopped, peeled and de-seeded butternut squash. Add a litre of stock (I make mine from veg bouillon powder). Chuck in as much curry powder as you fancy and some seasoning. Cook until soft and then throw in some fresh coriander and blitz it up. Yummy. Guess what I'm having for lunch today?

Meet Trevor

This is my DT creation for this weeks challenge at Die Cut Dreams. Susie has donated a fabulous prize of 2 blank chipboard mini books. All you have to do is follow Vikki's sketch and include something snowy.



I used one of CC Designs Trevor stamps from their winter kit. Isn't he cute? I drew the bells on thinking I was in time to enter Winter Wonderlands 'Jingle Bells' challenge but of course I wasn't!



This is my first easel card - they are so much easier to make than I thought they would be. I've stretch the sketch over the front and the inside too.

Trevor is shaded with ProMarkers and Copics and practically drowned in Glamour Dust poor chap. The papers, paper ribbon and sentiment are from Lili of the Valley. The snowflake and pine branches are Martha Stewart punches, I used adhesive aluminium foil for the branches.

We didn't make our walk yesterday because as soon as we were ready it started raining and we've all come down with a flippin' cold again! But I'm happy 'cos I've got my replacement Cuttlebug...

Rockin' around the Christmas tree

Such a bright and sunny Sunday morning, we're off for a walk with the boys in a bit , got to the park and feed the ducks.

Anyway, here's my card for today:

I love this sketch, think I'll be using this to make a few Christmas cards. The digi image is Alexa Dancing Queen from The Digi Stamp Boutique - isn't she fun? I teamed her up with a Christmas tree rubber stamp from CC Designs winter kit. The tree is paper pieced with some digi papers, I think from Mad About Cards. The baubles are glitter gems, coloured with Copics to match the image.

Alexa is shaded with Copics, I thought she'd look cute hanging baubles on the tree whilst singing Christmas songs to herself - a bit like me at Christmas only I look nothing like her!! The two background papers are from Lili of the Valley, I picked them up at the NEC a few years ago and it's nice to use them. I printed the sentiment on the PC and cut out using star Nestabilities.

Yes folks my new Cuttlebug has arrived - woo-hoo!!! Aren't Provocraft amazing, less than two weeks to let them know mine was broken and a new one shipped from America, including plates and dies too. Will be sending a huge thank you letter.

Sorry to Gracie and Dotty Jo, I said I'd post my awards today and I haven't - I promise I will do in the next few days.

Photo Inspiration

This week our challenge at Bee Crafty is to take inspiration from this photo and to use a digi image of your choice too.

I used 'Little Lady Birthday image' available to buy here for just 99p - if you haven't tried your hand at digi images before, give it a go, the images at Bee Crafty are fab to work with.

Well Centre Parcs was fabulous, enjoyed ourselves so much. I might share a few photos over the next few days. I can't believe how much I missed blogging and crafting, I took some craft stuff with me but didn't have time and only just managed to get this card made!

Crafty Calendar Guest Design Team Spot

I was so chuffed when Georgia asked me to join Crafty Calendar as their Guest Designer for November. The theme this month is 'weather' with an optional extra of using pearls.



This month we are sponsored by Bunny-Zoe Crafts. Nicky will be offering a £10 gift certificate for her store to the lucky winner.

I used a cute stamp set from Kars and all was going so well until my Cuttlebug broke - yes it was during the making of this very card! I didn't give up and got my craft knife out to finish the job. If you look closely, you'll see the red scalloped frame was once pink polka dots - I shaded it with Copics to match the image!

The papers are DCWV, the pearls are set on to an acetate window looking through to the scene on the inside. Well if this post has reached you as planned, I'm enjoying my last day at Centre Parcs (sob, sob). May share a photo or two with you next week!
