Papertake GDT week two

Well it's my second week doing a GDT spot over at Papertake and this week our challenge is 'New Beginnings'. Here's my creation:

My brother and his girlfriend are due to move anytime now so this will be perfect for their new home card.
I'm joining these challenges:

• A Spoon Full of Sugar - Hearts

I used this cute birdie stamp from the Love You Much set by Stampin' Up! and shaded with Copics. I printed the sentiment on the PC as didn't have one in rubber I could use. I embossed the top panel and punched the border using the eyelet border punch. The patterned paper is from the Pink Flamingo set.

Back to school

Our challenge this week at Die Cut Dreams is 'Back to School'. A toughie for me as my boys are way to sarmall for school and I was stuck. But my friends daughter is due to start college in September so I'll save this ready for then:

Well Christmas is well and truely over, hubby started his new job today and thankfully his new boss picked him up as we still can't move our car because of the ice. His boss picked him up on the main road, don't think he fancied risking our road!

I started weaning Blake at the weekend, so funny that it was only 18 months since I weaned Zac and I can't remember what to do. So I bought some baby rice and has to get all my weaning leaflets out again! He seems to like it so fingers crossed he'll start to fill up and maybe, just maybe sleep right through one night - fingers crossed.

Happy New Year and Messy Desk has returned!

Wow it's the last what's on your workdesk Wednesday of the year! join in the fun over at Stamping Ground.

What a dull desk - all my scrummy craft goodies pushed to one side to give me a clear space to do my accounts - groan, I always leave them to the last minute. Still, nearly finished and then normal crafting service can resume!

Time to Celebrate

Over at Cupcake Crafts we have a two week challenge for you and the theme is 'Celebration'. You can make any card or project as long as celebration is involved...the choice is yours! The Design Team have created some fabby stuff so take a look and pop by their blogs too over Christmas.

I made a New Year card for my Mum as I didn't post a Christmas card to Spain in time (oops!).



I'm going to join these challenges:

I used card and stamps by Stampin' Up, the stamp is from Cheers to You set and I coloured it using a Pixie Pink ink pad and a water brush! I printed the sentiments on the stars on the PC on the same card. The border was punched using the scallop border punch and I cut the aperture and frame with nesties.

Pop back later as I'll have another yummy card and remember to stop by tomorrow to see if you're the lucky winner of my blog candy.

Ribbons and Gems

This week at Creative Card Crew, our challenge is 'Ribbons and gems'. We're sponsored by The Creative Cottage and have a fab prize up for grabs too.

I used a fab image from Pink Petticoat and papers by Doodlebug, image shaded with ProMarkers to match. The ribbon and gems are from my stash.

Sharon do not look here...yet!

At least not until after Sunday as hopefully by then the postie will have delivered you this card and you'll already have seen it!

This is my entry for this weeks challenge at The Secret Crafter - their theme is 'Celebration' and Sharon's turning 50 this weekend so what better celebration? Well a place on the Design Team at Secret Crafter would be a huge celebration and that's one of the prizes up for grabs this week!!



I based this card on the sketch at Stampavie and More as it was perfect for this image of Birthday Anya. I chose her because I know Sharon likes cute cards and I figured I could add a little sophistication with the colours etc. I've shaded with ProMarkers (new fabby colours) and added a little Glossy Accents to the cake on Anya to make the icing shiny along with some glitter gems. I stamped the image three more times before cutting out and layering at different levels around the corner.



I can't believe I've used a peel off sticker but I have (!), I went over it with a purple pen first as didn't have anything else handy to use with 50 on. I printed the simple sentiment on the PC on some lush textured pink card I got from the Paper Mill Shop. I popped the background cards through the bug using Victoria and Flowers embossing folders, finishing off with a punched border and a bow, I was aiming for a kind of sassy design here!

I'm off shopping with Sue tomorrow and then a spot of crafting with her in the afternoon, seems ages since we had a whole day together and I can't wait. I will be catching up on visiting your blogs today and tomorrow too, I've got a bit behind - sorry!

OK, all I can do now is cross my fingers for Secret Crafter! Good luck if you're having a go too.

New Beginnings

No not me - the card! Gina has just joined the DT over at Secret Crafters and set this weeks challenge as 'New Beginnings'. If you haven't seen Gina's blog before, check it out, she has some great stuff.

Nestabilities, Pink Petticoat Image, Rub Ons, Copics

I wanted to keep things simple for this card even though I was so tempted to make something similar to the shaped one yesterday. But I'll save that for another day.

The image is from Pink Petticoat 'In my Garden' collection, shaded with Copics and mounted on to labels from Nestabilities. The side trim is actually a Doodlebug paper frill rather than using my scallop punch, feeling very lazy today! The sentiment was made using rub ons from Doodlebug.

Well we have a very quiet house at the moment, baby and husband both having an afternoon nap! Can you believe it? I'm making the most of it and spending as much time in my craft room as I can.

Papertake Weekly Challenge and Easter Wishes

Only just managed to do this one on time as the new challenge will be set today over at Papertake.

The challenge was to make a card using the following:
one circle
two ribbons
three images


Papers and images Pink Petticoat Spring Wishes



I love love love these new papers and images from Pink Petticoat. The images are coloured with Pro-Markers and cut with nestabilities. I printed the ribbon myself as wanted some to match the papers. The plain pink ribbon was out of my odds and ends box. I decorated the inside of the card too with another bunny and greeting.

If you want to have a go at printing your own ribbon, here's how I did mine. Can't promise it'll work for you as it will probably depend on your printer, type of ribbon and card used etc.

First I got a sheet of A4 card and popped lots of strips of low tac tape on with plain white satin ribbon over the top. carefully trimming the edges and making sure well stuck down. I know how temperamental my printer can be!



Next I selected my chosen paper and set my printer to best photo setting (I have an Epson RX685) and crossed my fingers! It worked, a little bleeding and smudging but I'm OK with that. I used white Zeta linen card by the way.



Then hey presto - peel gently away from the card sheet and I have fab Pink Petticoat ribbon to match my card to perfection.

Going to print lots more later on if I get the time. Got to face the supermarket shortly and then the housework and then some real work too!

Two Peas in a Pod

A friend asked me to make a card as she had just become Godmother to twins.


Sizzix die, various papers, cuttlebug emboss, rub ons, Fiskars punch

I've been itching to use this pea pod die for ages and had the perfect excuse the other day! It made a change not to make a card with really bright colours too.

I used a Sizzix die and various papers I had lying around, added pink gems for the eyes and made a fake bow secured with a sparkly Doodlebug button. The names are Doodlebug rub ons and the greeting was done on the PC.

So hoping for a free hour to craft today but I don't think it will happen. Off to be pampered at the hairdressers later, woo-hoo no more roots!

Easter Challenge

This weeks challenge over on A Spoonful of Sugar Blog is to create an Easter card. I don't have many Easter style items to play with, in fact Bun-Bun is one of two! But I do love Bun-Bun and remember waiting ages for him to come into stock when he was first released.


Penny Black stamp, cuttlebug emboss folder, pro markers, doodlebug papers and button, Cookie Cutters

I stamped Bun-Bun with a black Momento ink pad then coloured with Pro Markers and Sakura Glaze pens. First time I've had my Pro-Markers out in ages, it was good to use them again. The ribbon was off a present I'd been given and although it doesn't show too well on the photo, I went over the embossed buttons with a white Versacolour ink pad to highlight them. The squares are made using Quickutz Cookie Cutter dies.

Inside the card is pink with a stamped Easter egg message.

May not get to blog much over the weekend as my Mum and Step Dad are coming to stay from Spain until Monday. Fingers crossed I'll find some time.

Blue Yonder Mark Two!

OK so I don't know why but there was something about the card I made yesterday that I wasn't happy with. So I've changed it. A bit.

So can you spot the difference ha, ha? I cut the card up, mounted it onto blue mirror card and shaped around the greeting and raised it. I like it a bit better now!

Blue Yonder

Quick off the mark that's me!

Sue set this weeks challenge as anything blue, only blue and nothing else. I do have until Sunday to make this but whilst I was out browsing the shops this afternoon trying to get the little one to nod off, inspiration struck....so I rushed home and made this:

Yes the little one is sound asleep now and I've had time to make the card and get it posted on here too. My friend Teresa asked me to make a 60th Dad card - hope you like it!

I have got to get to grips with taking better photos as you can't really see the sparkle or dimension on this one. Some of the letters are raised and some are stuck flat. And I have to confess to using peel offs - something I try to avoid as they always tend to look rubbish when I use them! I coloured them blue to fit the theme and then added a few sequins and gems to finish off.

Personalised Christening Card

Well today I've been out to check out new double buggies - I know, it's an exciting life but someone has to do it! Found one we like but not so keen on the price. Zac looked very cute as he tried out his potential new wheels and grinned throughout. Good lad.

Anyway came home and looked through the doorway to my craft room and I'm ashamed to say I couldn't see the floor or the worktop! So I'm taking a break from sorting and tidying and thought I'd pop this card on I made for my friend Jo when she became a godmother (again!).


DCWV luxury stack, sizzix lollipop dies, cross charm, printed greeting, nestabilities

I wanted a large landscape card to fit Isabella's name on and realised I didn't have any so cut a piece of card from the DCWV stack, creased the edge and stuck another piece of card to make the inside. The letters are cut from silver glitter board and mounted on foam pads and I gave Jo the choice of a cross or teddy bear charm to hang on the front.

Right, must get on with my sorting or I'll be here 'til midnight and still have no space to create. I'm determined to do some scrapbook pages this week.
